Pomegranate is a characteristic species of the Mediterranean area whose use and culture are of longstanding tradition. For the last few years, various research teams have been focusing their attention on this and other under-utilised fruit species. This interest gave rise to a working group on this topic. These are the proceedings of the international symposium on Pomegranate that was organised in Spain on 15-17 October 1998 in order to update and discuss the results obtained in pomegranate research and technology.
